Why is my heat pump blowing cold air in heating mode?

In Greensboro winters, heat pumps deliver supply air around 90°F to 95°F, which feels cooler than body temperature compared to gas furnace air (120°F+). However, if the air is truly cold (below 75°F), the system may be stuck in cooling mode due to a faulty reversing valve, experiencing a refrigerant leak, or running a prolonged defrost cycle without auxiliary heat strip staging.

How often should HVAC filters be replaced in Greensboro homes?

Standard 1-inch pleated filters should be checked monthly and replaced every 30 to 60 days, especially during spring pine and oak pollen season in the Piedmont. Thicker 4-inch to 5-inch media filters typically last 6 to 9 months depending on household pets and runtime.
